Our gym staff are often asked “What’s the best way to … lose a few pounds, get rid of my ‘love handles’ or ‘bingo wings’, flatten my stomach or climb the stairs without getting out of breath?”

Our friendly gym staff are ready and waiting to help and support you achieve your aims, they can provide you personal guidance and advice including putting together a specific programme for you to work on each time you come in.

You can monitor your improvement and ask the Instructors to stretch you even more

If your recovering from a long illness, an injury or a condition for which your Doctor has prescribed ‘exercise’ as a key aide to recovery; then we can offer guidance and advice from our, in-house Level 3 qualified Exercise for Referral instructor, Harrison. For more information click here

The answer to all these scenarios is to exercise of course! But choosing the right way to exercise for you is important; so whether you are coming to a gym for the first time or after a long absence or you’re a long time exercise guru, whatever your goal, our friendly, approachable Instructors are always pleased to help, support, motivate and encourage you to achieve your aims.

They can provide you personal guidance and advice including putting together a specific gym programme for you to work on each time you come in and/or recommend classes which would suit your exercise style and goal.

If you’re wanting a more focused approach or more encouragement; then we have a two further options for you to consider:

  • You can join our regular Manage My Fitness session which provides individual attention in a motivational group environment supported by a group personal trainer
  • Or, for that intense focus and 1:1 approach then Personal Training is for you
    (please note this is a separately chargeable activity and not included within your membership), see below for more details

We offer a free personal training plan tailored to meet your aims by one of Gym Instructors. You can ask at any time once you’ve joined to book a session with the Instructor who will listen to your fitness aims, discuss options to achieve them and then put together a programme which you can follow when using the gym or studio. The plan can be adapted and developed in line with your own personal achievements throughout your membership at The club.


As we all know, physical activity can play an important role in the prevention and management of certain health conditions so we are pleased to be able to offer an exercise referral scheme for all our members. This is a great way for those with long term health conditions to increase their physical activity levels and improve their overall health.

Harrison, one of our fitness instructors is Level 3 qualified in the GP Active Exercise Referral Scheme and specialises in working with medical conditions such as:

  • Osteoporosis
  • Arthritis
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Joint replacement
  • Obesity
  • Lower back pain
  • Depression
  • Anxiety

For that extra motivation and support, Harrison, our resident Personal Trainer can work with you on a 1 to 1 basis and whatever your goals are; he will work with you to achieve them. Great if you have a particular objective in mind or you just need that additional push to work out.
